A taste of Nepalese culture. These two faced puppets have faces
representing some of the many different deities found in Nepal.
The faces are made of cotton and clay, which is then beautifully
painted. The costumes and decorations on these fascinating puppets
represent aspects of the different ethnic groups, such as Newari,
Maithili, Sherpa etc to be found in the various regions of Nepal.
The puppets shown here are dressed in the style of the Jayapu who
are the farming caste among the Newar, one of Nepals largest
ethnic groups. The costumes are hand made from hand woven fabrics.
